Accommodation
At present, it is possible to accommodate within the campsite area (the capacity of the fenced campsite is approximately 50 places, 100 people) or stay at a renovated granary (25 beds in a common area in the attic). This eco-friendly option is suggested especially for bigger groups of travellers or facilitators of different kinds of workshops.
Just recently we finished three private cabins which are perfect for couples or solo travellers.
All accommodating options have the possibility to use the common kitchen and sanitary facilities (toilets and showers with hot and cold water). Free WIFI connection is available in the whole area. Dogs are welcomed at our campsite.
Camping

Eating
At present visitors of the Ecofarm Ostrov and tourists can refresh themselves in our buffet. Different kinds of local snacks and beverages are available at the spot. A must-try experience and an integral part of being on the Ecofarm is to taste fresh milk or purchase delicious homemade cheese products.

Thanks to the cooperation with the Riding club Zlatý Hucul, you can try riding a Hucul horse as a skilful rider or even as a beginner. Members have been engaged in the club for several years and they work as competent professionals. We have chosen Huculs for their calm character and durability in different weather conditions as they are kept freely on the Island from early spring to the late autumn and are constantly grazing.
Riding a horse on the island includes:
- training horse riding with an instructor – thanks to the calm character of Hucul horses and the patient attitude of our skilful instructors, learning to ride is fun for beginners, adults or children
- Leading children on horse-back (or a donkey-back)
- Walk in nature for individual riders – one or more day trips for individuals or groups
- Children's summer camps – children learn the basics of riding (min. 1 hour of riding), general care of horses (cleaning, brushing, braiding horse tails) and much more. They will experience beautiful and educational walks in the Island not only on the horseback, including a rich additional program
- Horse race – yearly since 2011 we have organized a horse race of Hucul horses (and other breeds). The race is well-known not only for its attractive disciplines (mini-maxi, parkour and „stezka“) but also for its accompanying program for the whole family.
Cycling trips
Veľkolélsky ostrov Island and our ecofarm is bordered by a dike which also serves as international cycling trail Eurovelo 6. Therefore this area is visited by a large number of foreign tourists. It is an ideal means of transport for short trips on the island and also for longer cycling trips in the surroundings (inland Danube delta, Komárno).
Water trails
The one who enjoys to admire the beauty of untouched nature from a little different perspective, will appreciate an opportunity to rent canoe or a small boat with professional skipper on Veľkolélske rameno (Danube river branch). More experienced water lovers may cruise from the river branch into the main river-basin of Danube and visit small bird island (with nesting colonies of Pygmy cormorant and herons) near Hungarian river bank. This is a great offer for every bird lover and water enthusiast.
Camps, events
The environment of Veľký Lél island is ideal for organizing various types of natural and cultural events. Surrounding is suitable for nature enthusiasts, bird watchers, professionals within environmental education, artists or anyone who wishes to immerse and get inspired by Danube nature.
We also organize several rounds of horse riding camps during summer months - July, August. As every year, we organize five tours of children's summer camps in the island of Veľký Lél. Camps fare full of environmental and educational activities, horse riding and wandering around the beautiful Veľký Lél Island. Renting the granary
At a reconstructed granary you may rent our rooms to organize different assemblies, workshops, conferences, team buildings or family celebrations. Our granary serves also as an eco- stay (23 beds in a common area in the attic). If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact us.
